The Elevated Learning Model

Every family partners with an Elevated Cohort Teacher to create a Personalized Learning Plan that can include Elevated virtual classes (taught live online), Elevated curriculum completed offline with teacher support, and/or teacher-approved alternative curriculum or classes (online or in person). Learning Plans also include how each student will demonstrate learning and what extracurriculars will foster lifelong learning.

Elevated follows a competency-based education approach, which means that students take the class or use curriculum or resources in each subject that is at the right learning level for them - challenging enough to be interesting, without being frustrating. Elevated Teachers focus on skills progression and help students recognize their wonderful progress and look forward to what they are ready to learn next!

Elevated teachers understand social-emotional and cognitive stages and create learning experiences that not only build skills and knowledge, but do so in a way that aligns with students' learning stage. Elevated classes are grouped by skills level and are mixed age to facilitate peer collaboration and mentoring. We promote a learning community within our school and within each class. The ages below each group of learners are the typical ages found in those classes, but students are not restricted to any age or grade level material.

We use real books, rather than textbooks, to teach each subject. Our teachers use visual slides, short videos, hands-on activities, projects, and games to help students achieve competencies. Students have choices in books and projects so learning connects to their lives and interests.

Pathfinders

Pathfinders

Pathfinders, typically ages 5-8, are discovering pathways to learning, and our Elevated teachers are helping them navigate the first steps along their learning path. Instruction focuses on developing initiative, creativity, and learner confidence through gentle guidance, modeling, and a lot of positive encouragement.
