Every family partners with an Elevated Cohort Teacher to create a Personalized Learning Plan that can include Elevated virtual classes (taught live online), teacher-approved alternative curriculum or classes (online or in person), experiential learning activities, or a blending of all of these. Learning Plans also include interest-led electives and extracurricular activities that foster life long love of learning. Students and parents have choices in how learning is demonstrated, including Learning Conferences, Learning Samples consisting of workbook pages, photos with description of learning, or Learning Summaries.
Elevated follows a competency-based education approach, which means that students take the class or use curriculum or resources in each subject that is at the right learning level for them - challenging enough to be interesting, without being frustrating. Elevated Teachers focus on skills progression and help students recognize their wonderful progress and look forward to what they are ready to learn next!
Elevated learning involves living books, (not textbooks), visual slides, short videos, hands-on activities, personal projects, and games to help students achieve competencies. Students have choices in books and projects so learning connects to their lives and interests
Elevated teachers understand psychosocial and cognitive development and create learning experiences that not only build skills and knowledge, but do so in a way that is developmentally appropriate. Elevated classes are grouped by skills level and are mixed age to facilitate peer collaboration and mentoring. The ages below each group of learners are the typical ages found in those classes, but students are not restricted to any age or grade level material. Each learner group overlaps in ages as well, because each child is an individual.
